COTD – 11th July 2011 – Dual Ball

Today’s pick is Dual Ball featured in many sets since the beginning of the game, but most recently in HS: Unleashed and Call of Legends as a reprint.

This card is a better version of Poke Ball since it allows you to flips two coins and for each heads, you search for a Basic Pokemon, not bad. The flips aren’t the best to rely on, but there is 50% chance you’ll get at least one, pretty good odds!

This card was quickly considered a staple when HGSS-On was first announced, but people have slowly shyed away form the card in favour of running maximum Pokemon Collector instead. I must admit, that I was one of those players, preferring to use my Supporter to definitely grab Basics rather than relying on a flip, but I am slowly starting to include Dual Ball back into my lists, just in 2s instead of 4s.

2 Dual Ball and 4 Collector seems to be a great number for me when needing to search those Basics early on since getting them ready for evolution as quickly as possible is crucial right now.

Overall, this card is very splashable if you’ve got some spare slots in your list, just to boost that ever-crucial consitency. I’m going to give it 8/10. A ‘staple’ that will be included a lot in decks now and is sure to stick around for the near future too.

Thanks for reading and I hope you check back tomorrow!
